Beacon Family Support
We’re Breastfeeding Friendly Monaghan (WBFM) aims to improve the health and wellbeing of breastfeeding mothers, babies and their families through the development and promotion of breastfeeding-friendly businesses, organisations and communities. With backing from Healthy Ireland, we have enlisted over 100 local businesses and organisations in the initiative.
Family Support Services
The Beacon Family Support Project offers support to families within the community and all of County Monaghan. We support families facing different issues, whether parenting, budgeting, issues around education, behaviour, health & wellbeing and general advice, to name a few. We spend quality time building relationships with families through home visits and weekly contact. As family support workers we help overcome issues and/or struggles that may be on going within the home. We empower parents and build their confidence to cope with day to day tasks, in turn, improving their parenting skills. Confidentiality is a key part of our work and no matter who we are working with, privacy is paramount.
We also appropriately link families with services throughout the county such as Child and Mental Health Service (CAMHS), Safe Ireland, Enable Ireland, Meitheal, Youth Support Services, Education, to name a few.
Drop-in clinic
We provide a confidential drop-in service for those who are not currently receiving one to one family support but who may need some support.
Currently our drop-in service is on every Thursday morning from 10am-12noon in Teach na nDaoine FRC.
Additional to our individual work with families, we organise and host support groups, programmes and events throughout the year.
Our Family Support team facilitate the following programmes:
