Healthy Food Made Easy

Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) is a basic nutrition and cookery course helping people to build confidence around food related skills such as eating well, menu planning, budget shopping and confident cooking.

What is the aim of the Healthy Food Made Easy programme?

An intervention between the service user and a social prescribing coordinator.

Free five-week programme

HFME Programme

Healthy Food Made Easy is a free five-week programme. The course is run over a 2 ½ hour session each week, with hands-on cookery sessions, week’s two through five, making simple nutritious recipes.

Course outline each week:

  1. Building a food pyramid

  2. The fibre providers

  3. Focus on fats

  4. Food for life

  5. Shop smart

All participants will have the opportunity to prepare, cook and taste healthy foods. Two tutors co-deliver the programme. You do not need a big kitchen, just a room with the use of one cooker. Maximum group size, 10 to 12 adults.

Who is it for?

Any community groups and/or organisations, including; Men’s Shed, Women’s groups, new communities, ethnic groups, staff groups, parenting groups, people living alone, residential staff, carers, FRC programmes etc. Anyone who feels they would benefit from the programme, can come together to form a group and participate in the programme.
